I’ll still call them Weekly Links, even though they’re monthly #5

March 3, 2018 By JONRS Leave a Comment

***** Weekly Links are the (rarely) bi-weekly article series where I post interesting links I’ve found over the past 2 weeks. Mostly I post art references (read: hot bitchez), art videos that helped me, philosophy stuff occasionally, and lastly some music that I found and love! I also do a little blog post about myself if you’re a fuckin weirdo and wanna read about my struggle to become the anime tiddiez master. *****

I always start these things and first thing I think is: how the hell do I usually format these things? Then I gotta go look up my old link articles and see how the hell this thing is done…

February was a fun month for me! I was finally consumed by the art demons. My desire to play video games is dead and gone (except for Escape from Tarkov x_x). I used to play video games while listening to talks like Joe Rogan or Jordan Peterson. Now, I can’t even do that! Anytime I attempt to play video games, my subconscious starts to bug me that I’m wasting time and that I should be drawing instead.

There’s a quote in The Alchemist that says: the more someone pursues their personal legend (purpose in life) the more and more it becomes their sole reason for living. I now know this is true.

Or as Jordan Peterson put it: in order to get rid of addictions, you have to find something that replaces the addiction. Something you find even more meaningful than the addiction.

So if you want to stop some addiction or bad habit of yours, just find your purpose in life. Haha! It took me about 1 year and 5 months to be fully consumed by my drive for art. So who knows, maybe if you’re more disciplined than me, you’ll be consumed by your purpose in 6 months or less?

A warning though, you will become a different person. The old you will die. So if you’re afraid of change and prefer life nice and simple, don’t pursue your purpose in life. Your old way of living will be annihilated. Your new god will destroy it.

The plus side: you will have beautiful and infinite meaning in your life while you pursue your dream.

OH-KAY, that’s enough philosophy! Let’s talk about thick thighs! 😀

Also, featured image is a quick pic I did recently.

References

Camila Bernal  –  Thick Colombian model x_x. Jesus, why even date women that aren’t Latina? Most women could never be thick like this… I gotta find an Asian girl and do massive experiments to get her to be as thick as this lady.

Jang eun young (waveya Ari)  –  Gorgeous Korean lady from a dance duo. Her and her partner have a youtube where they do sexy dance covers. In reality these girls are hustling their lingerie brand. God fucking bless beautiful entrepreneurial women. (Her dance partner’s instagram here)

Juliette Michele  –  Another thick cosplayer lady, zomg. Is she Latina? I think so…

Miko Mihokina  –  Belgian cosplayer, oo la la. She’s got kinda a big nose but a cute face so she gets away with it. Great body and delicious white skin! <3

Miss Warm J  –  Pretty Asian cosplayer. I was gonna post her instagram but I guess it got deleted? Here’s a backup instead.

XXX-cosplay  –  Tumblr that posts lots of NSFW cosplay pics. Prolly a good way to find more cosplayers eh?

Artists

Chris’s Art Cave  –  Hentai artist/animator that focuses mostly on tentacle/futanari porn. He’s really good and his stuff is super hot! Watching this guy’s animations makes me wanna learn animation! Fuck man, some day I will, it looks incredible, so mesmerizing…

Sefuart  –  Great hentai artist. His style is a kinda cartoony. Check him out on: Deviant Art and Tumblr

Calm  –  Incredible American style hentai artist. He’s like 1/2 cartoony yet 1/2 realistic at the same time. He’s really something, check him out!

Ellowas  –  Really damn good SFM animator. This guy has made a lot of hot Overwatch stuff, check it yo.

Espen Olsen Saetervik  –  In-fucking-credible Dark Souls-esque traditional paintings. You have to see his stuff.

Aurahack  –  Amazing colorful art. Ughhh, this girl is art goals for me!

Doxy  –  Another really good hentai artist. Check out her site for a lot of great tutorials.

Art Videos

The Emergence of Talent by Sycra  –  This guy has been around on youtube making art tutorials foreverrrrrrr. I’ve seen him recommended time and time again by many people and now I see why. He’s very insightful and has a lot of wisdom in art. This video in particular is about how becoming a great artist takes many years of study and work. The most interesting topic he talked about was how all “gifted” artists he has met, all copied the artists they loved as kids. This massive amount of copying as children set up their brain to crush at art when they got older and studied art seriously.

TLDR: go do tons of copies of the artists you love. This will help your brain develop art skill faster. Yes, even if you’re old. (Sycra takes a long time to articulate his thoughts so if you hate long rambling videos, don’t watch this guy lol)

Also, Sycra has tons of incredible art tutorial videos on his youtube and website. go pls

Mikey Mega Mega  –  This guy is a another great artist making tutorials on Youtube. He does a cute anime/cartoony style. Very helpful videos, usually going step by step in real time! A very nice man and occasionally funny.

Music

Final Fantasy 13 OST – Lake Bresha  – Another amazing Final Fantasy soundtrack. Excellent music to draw to, have a listen to the whole album, it’s great.

Red Velvet – Bad Boy  – One of Red Velvet’s new singles that came out at the beginning of February. Amazing K-Pop. Such a chill fucking song.

Jazz Jackrabbit OST – Deserto  –  Soundtrack from an ancient DOS game I used to play as a kid. The music is really fucking good.

Seth Nova – BABY  – A new future funk artist I found recently. I guess this guy hasn’t been around too long but holy shit, he is fucking good!!! He also sings on one of his new songs. Can’t wait until this guy releases an album. <3 <3 <3

DéspairsRay – Abel to Cain  –  Some BADASS Japanese metal. I swear this song sounds straight out of Devil May Cry 1. I haven’t listened to metal in a long time, I gotta go back. x_x

One Piece OST – Chika No Sakaba Dai-Hole  –  This is the song that plays during the Davy Back fight in One Piece. OMG, I was entranced by this song the first time I heard it and I had to find it. Beautiful middle-eastern sounding song, so energetic and uplifting! 😀

KK, that’s it. Thanks for reading! Hopefully some of these links help you on your journey. And if not, at least you got some eye candy out of it!

2016 Practice Gallery

February 19, 2018 By JONRS Leave a Comment

This gallery shows the beginning of my art journey. I’m putting this up so other people who want to study art can see the progress I made over the years.

Mostly this is to show that even if you are undisciplined as fuck, lazy, and super unmotivated, that you too can become a good artist. You just gotta put in the time.

It was grueling for me in the beginning. I absolutely hated art practice, I just wanted to be drawing anime tiddies right off the bat. Like any skill, it takes time. You have to spend a lot of time working on fundamentals, so that you can build the skills necessary to create whatever you want.

(My Previous Art History: I drew a lot of doodles and comics as a kid but then stopped cold turkey after middle school. I pretty much did not draw at all for 10+ years after that. I decided to start teaching myself art late September/early October of 2016.)

Art Progress 1 Year Later (+advice for beginner artists)

February 12, 2018 By JONRS Leave a Comment

2018 EDIT: If you’re looking for advice as a beginner artist, do not read this article! This article has outdated information that I no longer believe in. I’ve updated my advice to beginner artists and you can read all about it here.  (I’m keeping this article up because I believed this shit at the time I wrote it and I hate when people don’t accept and respect the “wrong” viewpoints of their past selves. It also serves as a milestone for my progress, or something. There’s the ego putting it’s two cents in. 😛 )  -JONRS, 2018

I should have wrote this article months ago. I started studying art in October of 2016. I’m a couple months late :X. I started writing the outline for this article as a timeline of how I progressed with art over the past year. I instantly regretted trying to make an outline. Instead I’m just going to show you where I am.

Also let me make it clear that this article is intended for people who don’t have the means to go to art school or simply don’t want to. This article is for the strugglers that choose to teach themselves art.

If you’re going to art school or have a teacher, don’t read this. If you’re unsure, get a teacher or go to school. It’s a lot safer and you won’t go insane like self-taught people do. 😛

The self taught path is for those of us who have no choice or seek self-mastery.

Pencil Art Progress

So I started my art journey with Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. I did the first exercises in the book and first tried to draw a side profile of one of my Guild Wars 2 characters from memory. Not even close hahahah. The second picture is a self-portrait I did with a mirror. I look like god damn Jabba the Hutt, HAAHHAHAHA!

Then I started doing Fun With a Pencil and I started to draw my crappy little cartoons again just like when I was a kid!

Fast forward 1 year and here I am doing sketches of anatomically incorrect classy bitches!

So I hope I’ve illustrated how good you can get (if you’re extremely undisciplined like me). If you draw everyday you will be light years ahead of me in your first year. 😀

Digital Art Progress

I went from being frustrated with digital drawing and spending hours trying to get the damn lines right… (and just ended up tracing her head).

To this:

I sketched the pose from imagination, used a posing doll to make sure I got the perspective somewhat passable, and actually colored the picture. My light and shadow knowledge is still pretty much non-existent but I still tried.

(If you want to see more of the progress you could make, check out my gallery! I’m going to upload most of my sketches and practice drawings over time.)

Decent progress for an undisciplined lazy fucker. If you are even slightly more motivated then me, you will make huge strides within your first year. Here’s the part where I tell you how to do better than I did my first year in art.

If I were to go back in time 1 year and tell myself how to study art correctly, here’s what I would say:

  • Study 1 subject for 2 weeks straight – Choose a topic of study and study it for 2 hours a day for 2 weeks. (If you can’t do 2 hours, start small. Just do 15 minutes a day and ratchet it up to 30 the next week and keep adding more time over the weeks.) Topics of study would be like: gesture, anatomy, eyes, hands, perspective, color, light and shadow, hair, etc… (Videos: watch this video by Xia Taptara, he’s a concept artist and this guy knows what he’s talking about.)
  • Do gesture drawings in the beginning to get used to drawing the human form and learn the correct proportions of the body – learn the size of the head+torso relative to legs, size of arms, etc. I still suffer with this sometimes. (Video tutorials: Proko and also REIQ have great videos, check out their channels!)
  • When drawing the figure, always draw all the features. – I mostly avoided hands and feet when doing gesture/figure drawing and now my hands and feet are pretty shitty. Don’t be dumb like me.
  • Draw lots of profiles from reference – You do this to learn how the human face and features look from different angles (I did this but I didn’t do it NEARLY enough as I should have). You have to know how to draw the face and its features from any angle.
  • Learn Perspective – I avoided perspective for almost a whole year because it looked scary, it’s actually pretty easy. Again, don’t be me please. (Videos: there are tons of great perspective videos and books out there. ORIANART has the best class I’ve seen about perspective although you have to pay for it. It’s worth the price, he explained perspective to me in a simple way that no one else could. Everyone else over complicates perspective. -_-)
  • Learn Light and Shadow basics – You can’t color pictures without understanding how light and shadows work. (Videos: again check youtube as there are tons of videos explaining light and shadow. I personally use ctrlpaint.com, lots of great videos to learn from there.)

TLDR: For your first year focus almost exclusively on figure drawing, faces, and a little bit of hair study wouldn’t hurt either. Once you feel comfortable drawing the human figure then branch out and learn light and shadow then you can move on to color and learn perspective when you want to start making environments for your characters. Don’t even attempt to learn anatomy unless you are very confident in your figure drawing abilities. Learning anatomy at this stage is a waste of time. You will learn more about the human body simply by doing gesture drawings and life drawings.

**** P.S. I forgot to mention this list is for people who’s goal in art is to do amazing figure drawing. For my case, I wanna draw teh animay tiddiez and I wanna draw them asap! If your goal is to be an environmental artist then I would say learn perspective first! Then move onto light and shadow, then learn color when you understand light. Then you can go paint your trees or whatever…

I’m separating these next two as they are infinitely more important than the others…

  • Draw doodles and random ideas in a sketchbook EVERY DAY. Just draw everyday. Doesn’t matter what. Just draw something. This is the top tier advice I would give to all beginner artists. Just draw every day for like 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, whatever you can manage. This is NON-NEGOTIABLE.

In fact, you could probably disregard this whole list and just do this one thing and you will still be ahead of me today.

Allow me to give you the sciencey reason for this.

By drawing everyday (even if it’s just doodles or shitty art) you are making a cluster of neurons (devoted to art) in your brain stronger. The only difference between you, the fledgling artist, and a professional is that the professional artist has the equivalent of a god damn AI construct in their brain who’s sole purpose is to create art. The only way to create this Art Construct in your brain is to feed it everyday. It’s like a demon that grows in your brain the more you do art, and everyday you spend on art makes it stronger. If all this sounds like voodoo bullshit to you, go read Mastery by Robert Greene (That book should be required reading for anyone trying to master a skill).
  • Draw what you want to draw, even if you don’t know how to draw it correctly.
If you wanna draw anime tiddiez, then draw anime tiddiez. Yes, even if you have no idea how to. It will be horrible and painful, believe me. But realize you will never learn how to do anything in life unless you fail miserably at it at first. Just like when you learned how to ride a bike (do kids still do that these days?) you fell and scraped your knees. When you first start drawing a new subject in art you will fail horribly at it. No one started out as an anime titty master. NO ONE. You are human, and humans are imperfect and riddled with errors. You are not perfect, get rid of this mentality. It all comes down to losing your ego (I’m going to write an article about this).

Okay, welp I think that about does it partner. Hopefully I imparted some wisdom to another artist who’s unsure what path to take when teaching yourself art. And if worst comes to worse at least this article will serve as a milestone so in the future people can see my humble beginnings. 🙂

Good luck fellow wanderer!

Beach Cat

February 9, 2018 By JONRS Leave a Comment

Haven’t posted any of my finished pictures in quite a while. I’ve been mostly doing lots of studies and finally forcing myself to learn perspective. 😛 Besides that not much goin’ on. Lately I’ve come up with this idea of forcing myself to finish a picture (relatively) quickly. I get bogged down because of my perfectionism trying to make every little detail perfect, which drags the picture out of a week or 2 and then I lose momentum and get bored with the picture and struggle to finish it. So now I’m trying to work on a picture about an hour or two a day and it worked out really well for me on this picture. I still noticed a bunch of errors the next day after finishing but whatevs! I need to be focusing more on just simply drawing every day and I will get better with time.

It’s been a struggle to get down the draw everyday habit, but I think I finally see light at the end of the tunnel. 😀

Weekly Links (That Are Somewhat Earlier Than Usual) #4

January 27, 2018 By JONRS Leave a Comment

Holy shit, I have to write something original. Maybe I should write some self-help stuff like everyone does these days? Haven’t fixed too many of my problems and I’m not really in the position
to be giving people advice on how to live a good life, as I’m still figuring it out myself  x_x. Let’s see, what could I talk about? Social anxiety with streaming, how to motivate yourself to practice art, how to motivate yourself to go to the gym, how to figure out the best way for you to pursue your dreams. Hmm, I guess I could write a lot.

So, what’s been going on lately? Been pretty much spending the last month working on my discipline with art. I’ve pretty much given up playing video games by myself and pretty much exclusively only play them with friends or family, in order to make it a social thing and not just a solitary time waster. At first it was tough for me, but as I’ve been spending more and more time drawing, all I can think about is art. I pretty much wake up everyday and draw for 30 minutes to an hour, all sorts of random doodles and ideas my brain cooked up while I was sleeping. Something I discovered last month, was that streaming by myself was not fulfilling my soul, I felt empty. That’s why I came back to art full force in the new year, as art really gives me meaning. It really is just like the Good Doctor says. I figured out that the pursuit of art is my single player game and the whole streaming/web show deal will probably be my group business.

I am drawing for myself. I don’t really care what anyone thinks about my art. In a selfish way, I want to become a great artist just to impress myself. If I can make some amazing anime tiddiez that I think look good, my soul will be happy.

That’s enough book writing for now. Hopefully that gives you some insight into why narcissistic people make art. 😛

(Featured image is some fashion studies I did recently, clicky click.)

Art References

Julia Shuenkova  –  Russian cosplay lady, she does lots of superhero cosplay. Slavic women, man… Thicker cheekbones and more pronounced jawline, very beautiful!

Helen Stifler  –  Pretty American cosplayer. She does great with her eye makeup and her eyes are reallly pretty as well.

Amy Elizabeth Jackson  – THICK blonde chick, jesus see for yourself. If only she had longer hair, she would look divine…  :,(

Jailyne Ojeda Ochoa  – Beautiful latina with a huge ass. I see girls like this and I think: God, her ass has to be fake, no way such a thing could exist!

Lexy Lu  –  Another super thick pin up model. She’s a little bit too thick for my tastes but she’s still really pretty. Good practice for those extra large body types.

Maria Palafox  –  Latina (I think?) fashionista. Lots of good fashion choices on her instagram and she also does vlogs on her youtube.

Hilde Osland  –  Norwegian model.  Sometimes she looks really pretty! Other times she looks like a barbie doll and not in a good way. The reason you’re going to follow her: SHE HAS SOME GORGEOUS FUCKING HAIR. Holy shit, her hair color contrast is GODLY.

Corset World  –  Site that sells corsets. The models are whatever, I’m just here for corset designs. (I think this is another one of those borderline legit sites like Wish)

Chic Me  –  Another women’s fashion site. They have beautiful models and they have thick models, usually both! (another Wish clone? I saw some reviews of people saying shifty stuff)

Wendy Cheng  –  Reality show lady from Singapore, omg so purty. She does make up tutorials, vlogs, etc on her youtube. Also has a neat blog.

Let Me Show You A Mature Woman  –  Tumblr that focuses purely on da big tittayz. I needed refs for titty ladies for a while and my bro helped me out. If you also need refs for big titty ladies, go here yo. (I did notice some fake boobies here but for the most part, the guy posts natural boobs.)

Artists

Olivia De Berardinis  –  Master artist specializing in pin ups! This lady is soooo good at what she does, gaht dam!  Hope I’m that good someday!

Jordan Peterson & Ben Shapiro

Oooh man, this talk is good. JP talking with Ben Shapiro about free will, responsibility of the individual and cultivation of property. Very good talk, only problem with it, is that it’s too damn short. 🙁

Naval Ravikant Interview

Check out this podcast of Naval Ravikant! I just started reading about Naval Ravikant (even though I’ve been following him on twitter for like 2 years). He’s a famous entrepreneur working in venture capital.

“Learn and absorb, but don’t emulate. Successful people are successful because they do what works best for them. It’s your job to figure out the best system that works for you. Don’t get stressed out about it.”

This has been my biggest fucking problem of the past year as I’ve been struggling to figure out which way of viewing life is the best. Naval re-framed it for me in a simple way. He also talks about good habits/systems he follows, and his personal philosophy.

https://www.farnamstreetblog.com/2017/02/naval-ravikant-reading-decision-making/

Wolf of Wallstreet Interview

Amazing interview with Jordan Belfort (the real life Wolf of Wallstreet). He talks about having a grand vision to get what you want out of life. Incredible wisdom from this man.
(I learned about this video from Mike at Danger & Play, check out his fantastic article about this.)

Music

Late Night Alumni – The This This – I used to listen to these guys many many years ago and recently rediscovered them. If you like chill house music with relaxing vocals, then you need to listen to these guys, they are great

MACROSS 82-99 – Tokyo City Nightlife (feat. Aritus) – Macross is a big time future funk artist. This is pne of his new songs that came out last month and it is incredible! If you haven’t heard his other work, check him out!

Android Apartment – Il mondo non e come lo vuoi tu  –  Android Apartment, another great future funk producer. This is a remix of an old italian song that he just pulls of so beautifully. ^_^

Nookie – Give A Little Love (94 Remix)  –  Here’s some ancient 90’s drums and bass (or jungle). I sometimes love to go back and listen to some old 90’s jungle or techno, here’s one I found recently. 🙂

Shin Megami Tensei IV OST – Members Only Club  –  This is from a another video game soundtrack, the same guy who made the persona music actually. Awesome chill music to listen to while drawing or relaxing. Love it. I’ll play it in my club someday. 😉

Animal Crossing OST – Entire Day Cycle 1 Hour Mix  –  This is a 1 hour mix of the original Animal Crossing music for gamecube. Most Excellent. This is super chill relaxing music. Again, perfect for drawing or doing any task requiring concentration. 😛
